Ground Level x The Curb Cut Style Up BBQ Meet
On Sunday, July 19th, The Ground Level and The Curb Cut hosted a bbq and meet at The Ground Level shop where they film their Youtube series The Curb Cut in Brooklyn. For those of you that do not know, The Curb Cut is NYC based, founded by John and Jared. Their channel currently showcases the build of John’s S30, which is a testament to his shop The Ground Level where he is dedicated to serving kyusha builds, meaning old car in Japanese for automotive enthusiasts within NYC and the tri-state area. It is great for people on the East Coast having this in our backyard because there aren’t too many shops on our side of the coast specializing in proper kyusha builds.
The turnout of this event celebrates the tuning philosophy of The Ground Level x Curb Cut. That is paying homage to period-correct builds and keeping traditions alive. The meet had a very diverse group of drivers that were not just Datsun Z’s but ranged from 180sx’s, Hachi Rokus, Land Cruisers, Foresters and Miatas! We were all there for one thing and it was like-minded individuals that champion what John embodies in the video Gambling $800 on a Craigslist Datsun Motor:
“I tend to think I am a current custodian for a car that has a much richer story to tell. In a time where everyone seems to be doing these quick slapped together internet builds it’s imperative that this car communicates a deeper statement what a 280z truly at its essence is all about roaring carburetors the smell of gasoline and the organic might of a purely analog Japanese street machine.”
