JDM Northeast April Kei Meet
It’s great to be out and back with the automotive season ramping up for the year. I made my first event of the year and it happened to be a kei car meeting. For those that do not know what a kei car is I will let you know. In Japan, it is vehicles that are the smallest size allowed legally for road use. These cars can be imported once they pass 25 years of age since they can be imported as an antique stateside. I know many other automotive enthusiasts that appreciate these cool tiny little cars that have so much utility for any purpose whether it be leisure in the wild or hauling car parts.
With imported cars, one of my favorite things is seeing the stickers from the origin of the manufacturer’s country that show the rules and regulations required in order for the car to be driven. It gives you a backstory and somewhat of an insight into Japan. It’s beautiful to see the remnants of where it used to be and now for it to be imported and celebrated by someone that had to wait very long to enjoy it is something beautiful to witness.
There were other tuners who showed up that did not drive kei cars but celebrated them. We were delighted with an R33, R32, Z33, bugeye WRX, and even motorcycles to name a few of them. The vibes were chill and it was great to meet everyone. Our world is small. It was great chatting with everyone and I definitely want to link up again. I actually did not even realize until the event that I already met Des via his previous vehicle who happened to be the owner of the beautifully tuned BRZ on TE37s I snapped at last years Club Loose Spring No Fear Moves. Special thanks to Carlos (NORTHEAST_RHD) for hosting this event.
